We are finally seeing an upturn for our offshore and overseas surveys following a very quiet period during the Covid-19 lockdown, with August ushering in offshore survey work on the Valaris Ju-92 jack-up rig. Mobilisation to the rig requires a short 3day quarantine period in Norwich before a flight out to the Ju-92 currently working in the southern sector of the North Sea.  The survey is to go ahead in the first week in August.

The scope of works required cover the electrical and engine exhaust systems to detect hazardous hot-spot temperatures, that may result in power outages, or at worse risk of fire. The survey request is part of the Valaris comprehensive maintenance strategy, requiring a third party to scan critical systems once every year.

The Ju-92 is one 74 rigs owned by Valaris Plc, the world’s largest offshore drilling company. The Valaris Ju-92 is an ABS Class jack-up rig, built by Marathon LeTourneau, a 116C design and currently operating in the UK southern sector for Chrysaor.  For more information about Valaris Plc visit: https://www.enscorowan.com/home/default.aspx
