Geo Therm Ltd are delighted to be awarded inspection works aboard the WellSafe Defender (WSD)semi-submersible rig, currently located in the far northern North Sea, operating in the Magnus Oil Field. The thermographic survey is to be completed in August 2026. The targeted one-week offshore deployment focuses on identifying hidden thermal anomalies, potential electrical failures, and mechanical overheating to safeguard critical systems against unexpected downtime in the demanding North Sea environment. The WSD is owned by Well Safe Solutions, the rig was originally operated as the drilling rig WilPhoenix, and refitted in 2022 to serve as a bespoke asset for well and abandonment (P&A) and well decomissioning works to facilitate the energy transition.
