We are delighted to announce North Atlantic Drilling Limited (NADL) has awarded its first Geo Therm Ltd inspection survey on the West Phoenix a 6th Generation, DP3 ultra deep semi-submersible rig. The IRT inspection will be used to compliment existing PM regimes, principally to detect hot-spots within rig-wide electrical systems.

This versatile drilling rig has a DNV Class.  Since delivery in 2008 it has operated on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and in UK waters performing Exploration drilling, Development drilling, HPHT operations, Well-testing and Plug & Abandon Operations at depths from 154 m. to 1145m.  It currently has a contract with Wintershall Norge, to conduct drilling operations on production license 894 in the Norwegian Sea.

The West Phoenix rig has an IMO number: 8768294.  The NADL rig is equipped with dual derrick configuration, and specifically designed for harsh, deep winter operations in northern latitudes, and arctic areas. The rig is capable of high specification drilling, designed with improved safety and environmental focus.   Geo Therm Ltd are delighted to be given this opportunity to assist NADL and with its future PM requirements. The thermal imaging survey is penned to start in the late first early 2nd Qtr.

The North Atlantic Drilling company has a fleet of seven harsh environment units and one newbuild under construction, (the company is a 70.4% owned subsidiary of Seadrill Limited).
