We are pleased to annouce vessel management on the ultra-deepwater drillship the SEADRILL West Gemini chooses Geo Therm Ltd for our combined Thermographic & HV Partial Discharge survey. This survey is to start in mid March 2016. The surevys are required to comply with the vessels’ PM requirement, for the early detection of extreme temperatures and high frequency acoustic noise. Heat and sound being the early precursor of unwarranted signs of electrical stress due to high resistance hot-spots and the generation of arching and tracking.

The SEADRILL West Gemini drillship is currently working for TOTAL the French multinational integrated oil and gas company, offshore Angola West Africa. SEADRILL operates a modern fleet of drillships, jack-ups, semi-submersibles and tender rigs, currently totaling some 68 vessels, able to operate in shallow or ultra-deepwater, harsh and benign environments.

The West Gemini is able to operate in water depths up to 10,000ft, drill to depths of 37,500 ft while keeping in position using 6x Rolls Royce dynamic propulsion thrusters. Built to the Samsung 10000 design it has an IMO #9459931 and an ABS Classification and capable of supporting 180 personnel. This is Geo Therm Ltd’s 4th survey on this impressive drillship. (TD)
