We are delighted to receive notification from the West Gemini management requesting Geo Therm Ltd offshore inspection services during the 4th Qtr of 2023 or early Jan 2024. The combined Thermographic & HV Partial Discharge survey is intended to take a total of ten days, to comply with its PM requirement.

Using both inspection methods the Geo Therm Ltd inspector will attempt to find extreme temperatures and high frequency acoustic noises on this 6th generation drillship – heat and sound being the early precursor of electrical stress due to high resistance hot-spots and the generation of arching and tracking.

The Seadrill West Gemini drillship is currently working under bareboat charter in Angola, for Sonangol E.P. The West Gemini can operate in water depths up to 10,000ft, drill to depths of 37,500 ft while keeping in position using 6x Rolls Royce dynamic propulsion thrusters.

Built to the Samsung 10000 design it has an IMO #9459931 and an ABS Classification and capable of supporting 180 personnel. This is Geo Therm Ltd’s first return visit to the West Gemini since the outbreak of the pandemic, and one that is always enjoyed. (TD)
