We are delighted to receive additional survey works from Stena Drilling. Management on the Stena Don, (a mid-water harsh environment semi-submersible) has requested Geo Therm Ltd’s renown Thermographic Services to survey all nine of its main engine exhaust systems following the companies proactive safety focus on exhaust insulation upgrade works – to identify exposed hot-surfaces not covered by the heat shielding insulation, to prevent oil/fuel hot surface impingement in the event of a fuel system failure.

The survey is intended  to begin while the rig is at anchor in Scapa Flow, Orkney Islands with our surveyor boarding the Stena Don in late May/early June 2022 just before the next contract.

The exhaust heat resistance covers are designed to reduce engine room temperature, noise levels and fire hazard significantly, in compliance with Classification needs, to ensure engine room surface temperatures do not exceed 220°C – as stipulated in SOLAS Chapter II-2, Part B 2.2.61
