Geo Therm Ltd are delighted to be informed the annual IR inspection works aboard the Valaris Ju120 jack-up rig will go-ahead in early March 2026, with rig management confirming mobilisation from Blackpool heliport and offshore within Morecambe Bay.

The offshore inspection scope of works is part of the Valaris Ju120 annual electrical PM, requiring the use of an infrared camera to locate electrical high-resistance components before a downtime incident occurs. Included within the thermographic survey will be the scanning of the main engine exhaust systems (a SOLAS requirement) to locate hot exhaust surface temperatures that are not fully insulated, since >220C is the flash point of fuel oils.

The Valaris Ju-120 rig (IMO #9621479) is a three-legged jack-up rig, built for harsh all-weather conditions, the rig has the ability to drill down to 40,000ft working in waters depth of 400ft. For additional Valaris information visit: https://www.valaris.com/about/default.aspx
