We are delighted to announce Geo Therm Ltd’s next offshore survey, working in partnership with our Aberdeen colleagues at EOS Europe Ltd on board the Awilco Drillings – WilPhoenix semi-submersible rig.

EOS Europe Ltd (EOS) deliver a range of specialist services to the oil and gas industry. Since 2001 they have focused on the offshore drilling and production markets, providing operational excellence by delivering responsive, cost effective electrical projects – making our mutual service and inspection synergies in the UKCS and international offshore waters most compatible. The offshore inspections are to commence on the Awilco rig the WilPhoenix – a 3rd generation, enhanced Pacesetter, harsh-environment, mid-water, semi-submersible drilling rig, (with our mutual services supporting its safety and maintenance auditing needs). Built in Sweden, at the Arendal shipyard in 1982 it has been extensively refurbished and upgraded by Amilco since its acquisition in 2010.

The rig has an IMO number: 8752350 and is capable of operating in a max water depth of 1,200 ft and drill down to depths of 25,000ft. The WilPhoenix is fully UK compliant, with the Awilco Drilling company predominantly targeting the UK offshore energy sector with the WilPhoenix and its sister rig the WilHunter. The WIlPhoenix Thermographic Survey is intended to begin in late April in the northern sector of the UKCS, with departure from NHV helicopters in Aberdeen. The survey will assist the rigs PM department, to improve uptime by identifying the early onset of electrical equipment failures before breakdowns and downtime occur.
