Management on the ENSCO 122 jack-up rig, the third ultra-premium, harsh environment jack-up in the ENSCO 120 Series has awarded Geo Therm Ltd with its third IRT electrical biased Thermographic Survey inspection.

The rig thermal IRT inspection is undertaken on an annual basis, as part of ENSCO’s comprehensive electrical PM programme. The inspection is principally used to identify adverse heating in electrical equipment causing outages and engine exhaust hot-surfaces becoming an ignition source in the event of a fuel leak. The infrared inspection is planned for mid February.

The ENSCO 122 was delivered in 2014, the rig has an ABS A-1 class and an enhanced version of Keppel’s proprietary KFELS Super A Class design. The rig can drill to depths of 40,000 feet for the most demanding large multi-well platform programmes, ultra-deep gas programmes and ultra-long reach wells. The ENSCO 122 is currenctly working in the UKCS for the Dutch oil and gas company NAM, (Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij), which in English translates to Dutch Petroleum Company.
