The begining of March and we have super news from the management on the newbuild drillship Sonangol Libongos, awarding Geo Therm Ltd offshore services with its first thermographic (IRT) and first-pass high voltage partial discharge (HVPD) survey.
The Sonangol Libongos drillship (IMO: 9730543) was built by DSME in Korea and delivered in March of last year, it’s a 7th generation e-SMART ultra-deepwater drillship capable of operating in ultra-deep waters.
The Geo Therm Ltd workscope is to go ahead in the early second quarter of 2020, while the drillship continues with its 9 well drilling program off Luanda, Angola. The Libongos drillship is a Sonadrill / Seadrill 50:50 joint venture with its affiliate Sonangol E.P the Angolan state owned oil company.
