Offshore, Thermal Imaging

We are delighted to inform our friends and social media the annual electrical biased Thermographic Survey on the Ensco 80 offshore jack-up rig will be performed by Geo Therm Ltd this year. The thirteen year working relationship with Ensco PLC made Geo Therm Ltd their first point of contact for management on the Marathon Le-Tourneau designed drilling rig. The rig is currently operating in the southern sector of the North Sea for GDF Energy.

The Thermographic Survey is used on rig wide electrical equipment to identify early signs of heat stress that may cause service interruption. Geo Therm Ltd has performed preventative maintenance/condition monitoring service’s on Ensco PLC offshore drilling rigs throughout the UKCS, Mediterranean and West Africa.

The Ensco 80 is a Marathon Le-Tourneau 116-CE design, built by Le-Tourneau UK in Clydebank, Scotland. It has an ABS Classification, and can operate in waters of 225ft depth and drill to 30,000ft. The thermographic survey is planned to start in mid-October, with mobilization from Norwich, UK. (SL/TD)
