Management on the Blackford Dolphin, a Dolphin Drilling Ltd owned rig., (a subsidiary of Fred. Olsen Energy ASA), has asked Geo Therm Ltd to perform an offshore inspection service during its next top-hole drilling phase.
The semi-submersible is currently under contract with BP Exploration Operating Company Ltd., in the UK North Sea. The Thermographic Inspection (IRT) scope-of-works is planned for August, with the electrical biased IRT test to last no longer than one week.
The Blackford Dolphin has an IMO #8753122 and is a vastly improved Aker H3 rig, able to operate in a max water depth of 7000ft and drill down to 30,000ft. Dolphin Drilling Ltd has a fleet of five harsh environment semisubmersible drilling rigs and two ultra-deepwater drillships.
