Geo Therm Ltd are delighted to announce our second thermographic survey on board the Diamond Offshore Drilling (DODI) rig the Ocean Valiant is expected to go ahead in mid July, to survey rig-wide switchboards and distribution equipment to identify extreme temperature deficiencies that may cause unexpected power outages and downtime. This electrical biased condition monitoring survey is performed on an annual basis to comply DODI’s comprehensive Global Excellence Management System (GEMS) manual.
The Ocean Valiant is currently drilling for Premier Oil in the Solan field, west of the Shetland Islands, block 205/26A. Premier Oil is the operator of the field with 100% interest.
The Ocean Valiant is a 4th generation semi-submersible rig with an ABS Classification, IMO number 875330 and built by Hyundai Heavy Industries at the Hyundai Ulsan shipyard in Korea. The rig is capable of drilling down to 30,000ft in 6,000ft water and able to accommodate some 140 rig and third party service personnel. (TD)
